This [Cape Wind project] is precisely the kind of renewable energy that pretty much every Earth Day speech since 1970 has demanded that we develop. Now that it's finally here, though--now that we're talking about particular windmills in particular places, not abstract and squeaky clean 'wind power'--people aren't so sure...But I've given my share of Earth Day speeches, and seen the effect they had. Cape Wind responds to Joe Kennedy Thursday, January 21, 2010
In his Jan. 14 guest commentary, Joe Kennedy announced that he now opposes the development of offshore wind energy. By doing so, Mr. Kennedy has put himself at odds with not only the energy and environmental policies of the United States, Massachusetts and Europe, but also with the most respected environmental and health advocacy organizations, as well as his own prior positions.
