BOSTON, MA, February 20, 2007 – Cape Wind reached another permitting milestone by filing its Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIR) on February 15 with the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act (MEPA) Office.

The FEIR responds to information requests made by the Secretary of the Executive Office of Environmental Affairs as part of the Certificate on the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) and it also includes responses to all other comments submitted on the DEIR.  

Cape Wind President Jim Gordon stated, “We hope this filing brings the public benefits of cleaner air, greater energy independence and new jobs closer to becoming a reality for the citizens of Massachusetts.”

The Cape Wind Project was the first offshore wind energy project proposed in the United States and it is now the first such project to file a final environmental impact document.

The MEPA Office will take public comments on the FEIR for 30 days, beginning today and continuing through March 22.  Information about submitting comments to MEPA will likely be available later today at: http://www.mass.gov/envir/mepa/index.htm.  The FEIR is available at: www.capewind.org/FEIR.
